Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship

Róisín Scanlon coasted to an impressive five-shot victory to claim the 2025 Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Scanlon, who carded a final round of 71 on the iconic Old Course, became the fifth Irish woman to win the event.

Overall, the teenager finished -4 on a tournament debut that bodes well for her future.

After posting 72 and 69 (respectively) around the Portland Course on Friday and Saturday, Scanlon took a two-shot lead into Sunday.

But she left the chasing pack behind thanks to a superb -1 performance, including four birdies, with her mother watching and her father on bag-carrying duties.

Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship

Just seven miles from Royal Troon, Susan Woodhouse birdied the final hole to clinch the 2025 Scottish Women’s Amateur Open Championship at Western Gailes Golf Club

Woodhouse nailed a 10-foot putt to see off fellow finalist Freya Russell in blustery conditions along the coast of North Ayrshire.

It was final-day drama at its very best

Then again, you wouldn’t expect anything less from the epic links at Western Gailes.

Scottish Men’s Open Championship

Eliot Baker produced a masterful performance to win the Scottish Men’s Open Championship at North Berwick by a whopping seven shots.

Exactly 40 years after Colm Montgomerie won the same tournament at the same venue, the young Englishman was untouchable on the wild, wonderful West Links.

Baker carded rounds of 67, 66, 64 and 67 for a 72-hole stroke play total of 264 (-20). Overall, his tally on Scotland’s Golf Coast included 23 birdies and two eagles.

This victory was no isolated incident.

In February, Baker won the Portuguese Amateur Championship, so you should definitely mark him down as a future star.

Northern Open

Craig Lee launched a stunning final day attack at Royal Dornoch to win the Northern Open by five shots.

Lee overcame a three-stroke deficit to capture the title with a course-record equalling -8 score that left the chasing pack in his wake.

The DP World Tour veteran, who also won this competition in 2009, took home a £3,200 cheque from The PGA’s Open Series event in the wild, wonderful Scottish Highlands.

Genesis Scottish Open

Rory McIlroy didn’t lose the record-breaking Genesis Scottish Open that featured eight of the world’s top 10 players.

Chris Gotterup won it.

The unheralded American, who arrived at The Renaissance Club ranked No.158, was a picture of composure as he carded a final-round 66 to edge McIlroy by two strokes.

His overall score of -15 earned Gotterup £1.2m and a debut appearance at the following week’s Open Championship in Northern Ireland.

For his part, Rory had to settle for a share of second place with England’s Marco Penge.

The precious final two spots to compete for the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush went to Nicolai Højgaard and Matti Schmid.

In 2026, the Scottish Open returns to the Tom Doak-designed Renaissance Club in picturesque East Lothian for the eighth consecutive season.

Women’s Scottish Open

Welcome to the Lottie Woad era.

Three weeks after winning the KMPG Irish Women’s Irish Open in one of her last acts as an amateur, Woad exploded onto the professional scene with a stunning victory at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open.

The prodigious 21-year-old claimed a three-shot win in an incredibly impressive LPGA debut at Dundonald Links

Woad posted a final-round 68, which included five birdies, on a windy afternoon in Southwest Scotland for an overall score of -21.

Meanwhile, unlike her triumph in Ireland, this victory came with $300,000 prize money for the former Florida State Seminoles starlet.

Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship

Chris Sommers nailed back-to-back birdies to win a sensational Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship by one hole at Gullane Golf Club.

It was a fitting conclusion to five fantastic days of action in East Lothian.

Sommers had only levelled his final with Archie Finnie, who edged ahead after birdying 15, on the 17th green.

Then, after landing his approach within six feet, he sank his birdie putt on 18 to take the title – before being mobbed by family and friends.

What did it take to win this prestigious event?

Well, Sommers started the week in a field of 264 contenders. The Murcar Links standout then navigated two rounds of stroke play.

From there, it was the small matter of winning six consecutive knockout matches.

Phew!

Staysure PGA Seniors Championship

Third time’s a charm.

Having hosted the event in 2023 and 2024, the 2025 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International proved an out-and-out thriller.

It went right down to the wire in Aberdeenshire.

In the end, Bo Van Pelt sealed his first Legends Tour win by defeating Darren Fichardt in a dramatic playoff on the Old Course.

The duo, who were the only competitors under par, had been inseparable all week at -3. So, it went to sudden death on the par-5 18th.

Van Pelt, despite finding a fairway bunker, managed to prevail with a two-putt birdie.

And that was only the first act in a historic two weeks for the stay-and-play venue.

The Nexo Championship

Local hero Grant Forrest coasted to a four-shot victory at the Nexo Championship in Aberdeenshire.

Forrest, whose only previous DP World Tour title also came in Scotland, expertly managed inclement winds over an action-packed weekend on the Old Course at Trump International.

On Sunday, his final round 72 gave the East Lothian native an eight-under-par total score that runner-up Joe Dean could not overcome.

Indeed, such were the conditions, just nine players finished the event in the red numbers.

With this win, Forrest climbed to the summit of the Closing Swing rankings with only the Danish Open left to play.

Robert McIntyre navigated inclement conditions to become the first Scotsman in 20 years to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Just a week after helping Europe prevail in the Ryder Cup, McIntyre secured the title on the Old Course with a third-round 66 to finish on 18 under par.

This victory saw the 29-year-old emulate compatriot Colm Montgomerie, who won the event in 2005.

Not that McIntyre had a smooth path to glory in Fife.

The tournament had been reduced to 54 holes after play was suspended due to heavy rain and high winds.

Still, the 2024 Scottish Open winner managed to shoot consecutive 66s, at Carnoustie and then Kingsbarns, to start the final day in pole position on -12.

McIntrye never looked back. When all was said and done, the hometown hero finished four shots clear of defending champion Tyrrell Hatton.

And the crowd went wild.

Meanwhile, in the Alfred Dunhill Links Team Championship, Ireland’s Cian Foley and Australian pro Harrison Crowe claimed the title by a single stroke.
